"Really?" Amie isn't sure if she wants this to be real or a dream.
"So… this is cool and all, but the lights on the pylons are changing now, look -"
The air begins to hum. There is a noticeable smell, something dry and hot and earthy, and a shifting sensation in the air, as though unseen things were sliding close to, but not quite touching, your skin.
Amie backs away from the device nearly tripping over the corner of the couch in the process.
"Is it supposed to do that?"
"I think so."
"You think so?!"
"Give me a break! I've never used this model before!"
"Ooohkay… so how do we start it then?" asks the red-head, clearly trying not to be unnerved. "Do you know that? Is there a control panel somewhere or-"
"No, I set it's targeting sliders before we got here. We just need to… uh… prime it."
"How do we do that?"
"Crap, she's usually awake for this. I don't want to - it's too dangerous too remove the - crap! Sorry, does anyone have a light source? Doesn't have to be a big one. A flashlight or a lamp? Anything electrical that emits light. God dang-it Kendra, you managed to remember all the cables…"
Caught up! and it's still going amazingly I just came back from 6 months of RL adventures can't believe your still managing to post an update daily and keeping up the quality and pace.
